I’m SO SORRY about how late this is! I have been having computer issues all week, and my summer math class is in it’s final weeks, so I have been swamped!

I got to see the movie again last night (this time in IMAX!) and I know feel qualified to give a thorough, truthful review. I even took notes again this time around (I did the same the second time I saw New Moon) so I can be sure I didn’t miss anything important.

Before I get down to the movie review though, I want to talk about my waiting-in-line experience for the midnight show. Dudes, my ass is still sore from basically sitting on the floor for about 10 hours, and I saw some shit go down that made me beyond P.O’ed.

I saw not one, BUT THREE heinous instances of cutting in my own line. THREE, you guys! I am still ragey about this because I think cutting in line is one of the most disrespectful and inconsiderate things you can do as a human being. I really wish it wasn’t against the law to punch these people in the face because it’s honestly what they deserve.

The first offender arrived in our line around 8:00, so she was pretty far down it. She was a mom who had brought her husband and two daughters along (what an amazing example to teach to her kids, amirite?) When the movie theater employees moved us closer to our auditorium door as it got closer to midnight, she managed to slip into a new place during that confusion, cutting in front of about 200 people. THEN, as if that wasn’t bad enough, 4 other people arrived later to meet her there, and of course they didn’t go to the end of the line either, so those were the first two cutting incidents of the night.

The last one I saw happened at 11:00, when a group of obnoxious teenagers showed up, walked right past the huge line of 300 people waiting to go in, and snuck into the movie already playing in the auditorium. They actually thought they were just going to get to keep sitting there in their seats while everyone else who had been waiting in line (some of us with VERY sore asses!) would have to go behind them.

You guys, my blood is still boiling when I think about this. When the movie people found them and made them go to the back of the line, they came out laughing!!! Like it was effing hilarious they had just been such total dickwipes to everyone who had been waiting for hours!!

*takes deep calming breath*

Ok, now on to to the movie review!

Things I loved:

-The opening scene, where Riley is attacked was awesome sauce. It completely set the mood for the film, and Xavier Samuel, who I honestly hadn’t really cared about up until that point, did an awesome job.

-I love that they kept the opening quote from the book in. I hope they keep it up for the last two movies, then Twilight will be only movie they didn’t do it to.

-Sparkles were even better than they were in New Moon! I loved how in the beginning meadow scene, they reflected off Bella’s face. Great attention to detail there, Summit.

-ROB’S CHEST HAIR. It really should have gotten it’s own line in the credits. Next time you go to see it again (and you WILL go back), look at his chest in nearly every single scene he’s in and then try to notice anything else. It was so fucking hot, I almost died. Especially when I saw this in IMAX and they were projected on screen taller than me.

-Jacob’s note from the book was a great touch, but I wish they would have explained how it got there. For people who haven’t read the book, I’m sure it was a little confusing. But, since this is the “love” part of the list, I love anything that makes it over from the books to the movie intact. (Well, almost everything)

-Bella’s scene with her mom was perfect. It was sad and sweet, just like it should have been.

-The Victoria chase scene with the Cullens and the wolves was GREAT. I loved to see them all interacting, especially when Paul swooped in and dropped Emmett’s ass. It was very intense. My only small complaint is that it was a little too…dark. I felt like I was squinting to see the action here.

-Jacob had an amazing entrance scene. The muscles, the music, the bike, it was all perfect! I suppose this was supposed to counteract Edward’s from New Moon, so I’m trying not to be bummed that Edward didn’t get one this time around, but I loved this scene anyway. I know we had all seen it a hundred times since this clip was the one shown on all the talk show promos, but it was definitely less cheesy with the music added and without missing parts of the conversation.

-The scene where Bella is dropped off at the territory line by Edward to meet Jacob: OMG. The entire theater went nuts at Jacob’s body here. I heard my own mother say, “Daaaaammmmnnnn.” All I have to say is Kristen Stewart is very lucky that making out with these two is her JOB. Like, she gets PAID.

-The tribe history was very engaging. No one kill me, but that was one of the most boring parts of the book to me, so I was very happy to see this cut down and actually acted out. The vampire woman in this scene was my favorite.

-The fight training scenes were WAY better than I imagined they would be. How hot was Robward in his little fight with Carlisle? And Jasper being the take charge teacher?! UNF, you guys. UNF is all I can say. Speaking of Jasper…

-Jasper and Rosalie’s back stories = incredible. I could not get ENOUGH of Major Jasper Fuckhot in his uniform and southern accent! MOAR JASPER ALL THE TIME. I literally can’t think of anything they could have done to make his scenes better; they were perfect. That said, I loved Rosalie’s story, I just wish we could have seen more of it. I was bummed we only got that quick flash of her in her wedding gown. They also totally cut out the story of her friend and her baby. I would have really loved to see her finding Emmett too.

-The Bella and Charlie sex talk. This was just epic. That’s all I can really say about it because if you’ve seen it, you already know.

-THE LEG HITCH SCENE: The part of the movie we were all waiting for. It was hot and it was sexy until…Edward was a buzzkill. More on that in the dislikes list.

-The tent scene: LOVED it. I felt so unbelievably sorry for Edward here, just like I did in the book, and I think Rob and Taylor did a great job here. The tone between them was perfect, and it’s one of my favorite parts of the movie.

-The final fight between the newborns, the Cullens and the wolves was exactly how I thought it would be: Awesome. David Slade did good here, the only thing I wish would have been done differently is the camera work. Would it have killed him to pan out a little here so we could see more at once?

-The last conversation between Bella and Jacob was so sad. I felt my heart breaking for him all over again like it did in New Moon. Taylor did very well in this scene, and him laying there all sweaty and broken made it all the more pitiful. (One funny note: Jeremy named Jacob in this scene, “Nakob”, since he’s supposed to be naked. He REALLY wanted me to include that in my review, so…um I did. Now he can’t say I never do anything for him.)

THINGS I HATED

-I HATED it with all my being that Edward messed up Bella’s truck. I know it was in the book, and guess what? I hate it being in there too. For me personally, this has just always seemed really out of character for him, and I’m pissed they included it in the movie. They leave out ALL KINDS of things to make Jacob look more flattering (more on that later), but they had to keep this in so Edward looks like a possessive ass. Thanks guys.

-For me, a Team Edward member, I feel this movie had a decidedly obvious Team Jacob slant. He got the super cool intro, they gave him a “I’m hotter than you” line, AND, most egregious of all, they completely left out the part where Jacob admitted he MANIPULATED Bella into kissing him, so he got to look sane and rational compared to Edward. Let me be clear: I don’t hate Jacob or anything, I was just kinda annoyed by this as I thought about it more and more. Plus, the fact that each time I’ve seen this, I’ve been seated all around Team Jacob people probably makes me more sensitive to it.

-The wigs. Oh my GOD you guys, they were pretty horrible at times. I didn’t notice Kristen’s as much as I thought I would, but I almost thought I could see wig tape in a few scenes. I also still do not understand why they put a wig of Bryce Dallas Howard. SHE HAS RED HAIR ALREADY!!! Summit’s costume and makeup team had BETTER get their shit together for last two movies.

-The “Switzerland” line could have been explained more. Just one more sentence of clarification would have been fine. As it stands now, it’s in the middle of a conversation that barely has to do with it, and instead of delighting me when I hear it, I’m annoyed.

-The Eyebrows: I know this is superficial, but nearly everyone’s eyebrows were effing awful. I mean, Dakota Fanning had eyebrows worse than mine, and I don’t understand why. They were already perfectly shaped, and it would have taken 5 minutes at most to go in a pluck the few strays she had underneath before she filmed her scenes. Kristen had awesome eyebrow game going on in New Moon, and I don’t know what happened. Normally, I LOVE Rob’s eyebrows, and I love that they stopped tweezing them to death like they did in Twilight. But would have killed someone to at least trim them this time around? Do they not have that person on the team anymore? I’ll volunteer! I will maintain Rob’s eyebrows on the set and they won’t even have to pay me! Someone from Summit, give me a call! Seriously though, I feel like this is what happens when they crank these movies out at warp speed like this: Little obvious things get swept under the rug.

-I hated Bella for kissing Jacob. I thought I wanted to slap her when I reading the book, and that feeling was multiplied by 1000 during the movie. Just so so stupid and unnecessary. I also hate that her kiss with Jacob was on the same hotness level as the make-out during the leg hitch. It’s just not right. I also hated how they cut out a lot of the conversation Bella and Edward have right after that. He forgives her way too easily in the books, and it was even more ridiculous here.

-Speaking of the leg hitch scene, I was very annoyed that all the”I-wanna-wait-until-marriage” stuff made it into the movie. I know it’s in the book, but this is another thing I hated in the book as well. I could write an entire thesis about how in this series, Edward has been dangled in front of Bella’s face (and the mostly young women in the audience faces’ too) as the ultimate man and lover every woman would want, and then when Bella attempts, as we all would want to, on those feelings, she’s made to feel like she’s wrong for wanting it, and him, so badly. Even though I absolutely adore this series, I feel that this is pretty problematic. But, I won’t get into all my feelings on this here, and I don’t expect everyone to agree with me at all. I’m pretty conflicted about it, and I welcome any and all discussion in the comments if you want to add your .02.

-I’m beginning to get pretty annoyed at all the hubub that happens every time a new person in cast in these movies as a minor character, and then they are only only screen for a few seconds and/or only have one or two lines. I’m mostly thinking of Boo Boo Stewart here. How many interviews and magazine mentions did this kid get as the child actor who was going to play Seth Clearwater, and then we only saw him (in human form) once? I know he will have a bigger role in Breaking Dawn, but I wish we could have seen more of him here.

THINGS I AM “MEH” ABOUT

-Bryce-Dallas Howard as Victoria. I don’t really know what to say. She wasn’t as scary to me as Rachelle was as Victoria, but I didn’t think she was horrible either. Mostly, I just wish Rachelle had never been replaced.

-The special effects. At the big finale when Edward kills Victoria, people laughed when they saw her body. I don’t think that was the reaction they wanted. I really liked the special effects in some scenes, and in others they just looked cheesy.

Overall, I give this movie an 8 on a scale of one to ten.

So now, nearly a whole week later, I want to heat what you guys thought! How many times have you gone to see it? What’s your favorite part? Least favorite part? What do you think got cut out of the film that we will see on DVD? Share in the comments!

I am back and have slept for a few hours on my first thoughts about Eclipse. I’m not going to write a full review post until I see it a second time (which unfortunately, will not be tonight, but tomorrow) so this is just a review of my overall thoughts.

I am back and have slept for a few hours on my first thoughts about Eclipse. I’m not going to write a full review post until I see it a second time (which unfortunately, will not be tonight, but tomorrow) so this is just a review of my overall thoughts.

First of all, you can totally tell that the director is Team Jacob. There were so many flattering moments to him throughout the film, way more than I really expected. I don’t necessarily think it was bad…and I suppose it makes sense to have Jacob look a tad bit like the better choice for Bella in this movie so you can get a sense of what she’s leaving behind in order to choose Edward. When I think about it like that, it makes sense.

One thing I absolutely hands down loved were the flashback scenes. I was very impressed that they flashed back during Billy’s story of the history of the tribe. Besides Jasper’s Civil War stuff, that had to be my favorite. I wish we could have gotten to see more of Rosalie’s, but the part we did see (especially of her in her wedding dress) was amazing.

The. Leg. Hitch. Scene. How awesome was that? Totally how I pictured in the book, and the awkwardness of the conversation was pretty realistic. The feminist in me has many things to say about that scene (particularly Bella feeling guilty about wanting to have sex with Edward), but for now I will just say that it was pretty hot (WAY hotter than the second kiss with Jake! Take that!) and it was one of my favorites.

The tent scene also stood out for me. I loved the dialog between Edward and Jacob and I thought it was one of the best of the movie. I definitely can’t wait to rewatch that.

Now I’m going to end on something I didn’t like: All the extreme closeups on the actors faces. It happened in like, every scene. It was distracting to me because I would find myself wondering what kind of makeup they used to make KStew’s pores disappear instead of listening to what she was saying. I thought the closeups would have been better if used sparingly in some scenes with emotional impact.

So what did you think? What was your favorite part? Your least favorite part? Is this your favorite of the three so far? Let me know in the comments!

So, if like me, you missed this here are the Jimmy Kimmel videos in HQ!

If you haven’t watched this, you should because every second is pure gold. I love how when Jimmy told Bryce that she was the best Victoria, she kinda sorta panicked. Did anyone else catch that?

And um…Twilight and Jersey Shore…That gave me feelings I don’t know how to describe, really. I love them both in very different ways, and they should have been kept separate forever. Never the twain shall meet.

No…just no.

If you’re just interested in the new clip shown here ya go!

Wow, Kristen looks amazing! It’s so great to see her smiling and happy. Don’t even get me started on the TayRob cover. I can only imagine the fan fiction being written right the second.

Entertainment Weekly also released an excerpt of the interview with the costars inside:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You guys are about to start shooting the two Breaking Dawn movies back to back. You signed on to this franchise before Breaking Dawn was written. When you read it, were you thinking, How is this going to be turned into a movie?
KRISTEN STEWART: Yeah, definitely. What is Renesmee going to look like? Is it going to be this little teeth-baby running around? It’s going to be weird.
ROBERT PATTINSON: [Laughs] “Little teeth-baby.”
STEWART: Yeah, but I think it’s going to be cool. One of the main objectives of the series is to get Bella to a point where she’s mature enough to make such a hefty decision, and she goes through a lot. In the fourth one, she is going to become a wife. She is going to become a mom. She is going to become an adult and a vampire. To do it so young, it needs to be believable. So I’m really excited about playing that.

The magazine also addressed also addressed Kristen recent controversy regarding her comments about the paparazzi.

You got a lot of criticism recently for comparing the intrusiveness of the paparazzi to rape. The comment got blown out of proportion very quickly, and you apologized.
STEWART: I’m so sensitive about stuff like that. That is the one subject that means a lot to me. I made one movie directly concerning it [2004's Speak], and I made another one where my character has a horrible history of rape [2010's Welcome to the Rileys]. I talked to a lot of people about it. I used the wrong word. I should have said “violated.” But I’m young and emotional. It’s just the way it goes sometimes. I probably shouldn’t say this, but I just feel like people got so excited once they saw that it was me. It was like, “Sweet! Let’s get her!” And then for the people to exploit it under the guise of being morally upstanding is disgusting — and it embarrassed me because I was a part of it.

Did you see it all unfold and then think, I have to issue an apology?
STEWART: No, I was in Korea when it all got bad. My publicist called me and said RAINN had issued this terrible statement.
ROBERT PATTINSON: Who’s Rain?
STEWART: You know, the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network.
PATTINSON: None of those associations came out and gave a statement [criticizing Kristen] without being called upon by the media first — who were doing it specifically to get hits on their websites. That whole system of Internet journalists, where no one is called to account, is almost entirely about hate. All these people get away with doing it because they have no responsibility to anyone. All they need is to get a salacious headline and people click on it, because it’s easy. And it’s quite good being part of these Twilight films because you have to give so many interviews all the time, you can defend yourself. That’s the only way. All of us stick together, as well. There are so many little nerds behind their computers, on their little blogs.
STEWART: See, if I said that? Crucifixion. You can say so much more than me. It’s insane.
PATTINSON: That’s not true at all. When did I say anything [controversial]?
STEWART: You’re really good, but you could say, “I just took a s***on the Queen’s face,” and people would be like, “Oh, I love him! I love him!”

Oh Rob. Not all bloggers are bad, I promise!

I’m glad Kristen mentioned this. I knew from the start she wasn’t trying to be offensive by her comment. Anyone who even knows what her movie Speak is about couldn’t possibly have thought that.

You can pick up your issue of Entertainment Weekly on Friday!

As you already know, Eclipse is only ONE week away and many of us already have tickets to the midnight showing at our local theaters in our hot little hands. With every TV ad for the movie, every Burger King commercial you see (This one is my favorite), and every time the soundtrack pops up on your iPod, the excitement builds.

But, like I posted about last year, we all need to be considerate of each other while we are waiting in line and during the actual movie. I’ve already discussed how when I went to see Twilight, I was cut in front of, and last year while I waited to see New Moon, it happened AGAIN! Kind of.

Last year, Jeremy and I got to the theater right when it opened, at like 9 am. No, I’m not joking. I had no idea how many people would be there and I definitely wanted to make sure we were going to get a decent spot in the line. We also were seeing the movie with a large group of my friends and family, but since I’m the only lameo amongst us, I was the only one there that early. This left me and Jeremy in charge of saving spots in line.

When we got to the theater, no one else was there to wait in line (because they aren’t crazy). Finding ourselves with more than a few hours to kill and literally nothing else to do, Jeremy and I went to go watch a movie.

When we got out of our movie around 12, there were two women (adults) sitting down against the wall where the theater employees had set up the line. By now, we were good buddies with them, and they came up and told us that they had tried to tell the people sitting down that people got here ahead of them and they had said, “No, WE want to be first.”

Yeah. Bitchy. But I just blew it off. I wasn’t going to let anything bring down my excitement that day, and the fact that we had other people coming later didn’t really make me want to be first in line. It would be really too close to cutting for my comfort, so we just held back. Eventually everyone got there, we all sat together, we all watched the movie, and things were alright with the world.

My point is that very shortly, as Twihards, we are all going to be gathered into big groups into small spaces, and it’s very easy to be annoying without realizing it. Let’s take a moment to go over some guidelines so that June 29th (or 30th) can be pleasant experiences for us all.

1. Show up in a timely manner : I’m not saying you need to roll up to the theater at 9am (needless to say, I will not be doing that this year). But if you know your show starts at midnight and you know the tickets have been sold out, showing up at 11:45 and expecting to find a seat easily is just not going to happen. Nothing is more distracting than a group of people who arrive after the lights go down. They usually stare in awe at the nearly full seats (like they didn’t think anyone else wanted to see this movie), then realize they have to split up and take up all the spare seats left between groups. Then you have to deal with people picking their way through the aisles, almost spilling your $8.00 Coke you thought was ok to set on the floor.

I will let you make the judgement call since you know how big your theater is and you can estimate how many people are going. I will say that for very busy theaters, showing up 3-4 hours before midnight is reasonable. Bring a book or something. Re-read Eclipse while you wait!

Buy this shirt at Cafepress

2. BE RESPECTFUL OF “TEAMS”! Seriously, people sitting behind me during New Moon, I could care less how much you love Jacob and why think he’s better for Bella. There was no need for y’all to discuss it loudly during Bella and Edward’s reunion scene.

I also have my own opinions about certain characters, but I choose to wear them proudly on my shirt, not loudly state them during the movie. It’s also why I have a blog.

This lead in to my next rule:

3. Keep the noise/talking during the movie to minimum! This is a midnight showing. Part of the reason I absolutely LOVE going to see these movies for the first time with a big bunch of other fans is the reactions. I still remember the first time I saw Twilight at midnight, and how everyone squealed and clapped when Edward first walked in to the cafeteria. I LOVE that stuff, so I certainly don’t expect, or even want, the audience to remain completely silent the entire time. That would just really be no fun at all.

But let’s all keep in mind that we can react without being obnoxious. Squeeing, clapping, and laughter (especially at the scenes with Charlie) are all to be expected. 5-minute soliloquies on how the movie is deviating from the book is not. If you must discuss that stuff with friends, keep your voices to a whisper. Only the people right beside you should hear you.

Please keep in mind too that if you discuss a plot point or future event too loudly, you might be spoiling someone near you. These movies are becoming more and more popular, leading to people entering the fandom for the first time, so they may not be finished with all the books yet. Your loud discussion on Breaking Dawn could cause someone to wonder, “What in the hell is a Renesmee?” Trust me, you need to leave that hot mess for people to find out on their own.

Another little thing that is especially important to me: DO NOT SING ALONG TO THE SONGS FROM THE SOUNDTRACK. I have not listened to one note of the Eclipse soundtrack yet, choosing instead to hear the music for the first time during the movie. Don’t ruin it for people by impeding people from hearing the actual song because you feel you need to share the gift of your voice with the world.

Do not be this lady!

Lastly, please put your cellphone on silent. If I hear an obnoxious Ke$sha ringtone go off during the leg hitch scene, I cannot be held responsible for any injuries that may occur.

Buy this at Amazon

4. Leave your merch at home! There is really no need to bring every piece of Twilight stuff you own and spread it out in the seat beside you. There should be a picture of someone doing this in the dictionary next to the definition of unnecessary. Honestly, your Jacob Black lunch box doesn’t want to see the movie, and even if it did, it doesn’t need it’s own seat.

Yes, people actually do this. I shouldn’t have to detail why this is obnoxious, but here goes. The main reason is that someone, an actual human being, could be using that seat. In fact, they are made for human butts, so that’s all that should be in them.

If your theater will allow you to, bring a tote bag and put your Twilight pillow and blanket, along with your book or magazine you brought to pass the time in there and keep it close. At my movies last year, everyone had to put their stuff in the car because there were so many of us. Everyone having a giant tote or backpack created a fire hazard, so don’t put anything in there you can’t live without.

5. Lastly, HAVE FUN! Unless you get to go to Cons or Twilight Conventions, this is the one of the only times all the Twilight fans are gathered in one place. You are going to be spending a few hours in the company with people that share at least one interest with you! Don”t be afraid to introduce yourself and talk to people. It will help pass the time, and you might make some new best friends!

Have any rules to add? Did you have a craptacular experience waiting in line to see any of the other movies? Share in the comments!
