*UPDATED (again!)* Questions About The New Moon DVD’s? Get Your Answers Here

Ok before we start I want to clarify that I’m doing a comprehensive post on the DVD’s available from major retailers in the U.S. If anyone has any questions about DVD’s from other countries, I will follow up in the comments.

UPDATE: Thanks to an extremely helpful email from Tamala, here is the info on what’s available for New Moon DVD’s in Australia:

New Moon 1 Disc edition:

Movie plus 2 special features: Team Jacob vs Team Edward: The Ultimate Love Triangle and Audio Commentary with Director Chris Weitz & Editor Peter Lamber

New Moon 2 Disc edition:

Movie plus 2 special features above plus:
-exclusive Eclipse sneak-peek
-Interview with the Volturi
-The Journey Continues- 6 part Making of Documentary
-Music Videos: Death Cab For Cutie’s Meet Me On The Equinox/Anya Marina’s Satellite Heart/Mutemath’s Spotlight/plus behind the scenes footage rehearsal footage of Muse’s I Belong To You
-Never before seen Extended Scenes
-Never before seen Deleted Scenes

New Moon Blu Ray:

Movie plus all the above features plus:
-Frame By Frame: storyboards to screen
-Fandimonium: a look at the die-hard fans

(Obviously, we all seen the Never before seen scenes)

The main retail entertainment company in Australia, Sanity Entertainment (which encompasses Sanity Music stores, Virgin Megastores and Virgin @Myer and HMV Music stores in Australia) also had an exclusive bonus disc with pre-orders of New Moon.

This contains (it is only avail on DVD not Blu Ray):
-Introducing the Wolf Pack
-Becoming Jacob
-Edward Goes To Italy

So, the best buy in my opinion was the Blu Ray, because you received all the special features from the DVD plus 2 extras and even more especially if it was pre-ordered through Sanity Entertainment to get the bonus disc.
(The great thing about the Blu ray is that BD Live (not sure what it is called in the US or internationally) may be tweaked in the near future to include some online content when using the Blu ray disc in the PS3 or regular Blu Ray player).

I’ve already done a post answering where the deleted and extended scenes are HERE, and while that seemed to help, there is still a lot of confusion out there about the other special features offered and how they are spread out. Hopefully I can clear that up if you still have any questions.

BASIC SPECIAL FEATURES:

In doing a search of Wal Mart (The Ultimate Fan Edition), Borders (Border’s Exclusive), Amazon (2 Disc Special Edition), Target (3 Disc Deluxe Exclusive) and Barnes and Noble (same version as Amazon, it just comes with a bag clip), it seems everyone gets the commentary from Chris Weitz and Editor Peter Lambert, the music videos, and rehearsal footage from Muse.

The 6 part documentary is also listed on all the special features of these versions, but the Wal Mart version (the one I have) and the Target version have different names for segments 4 and 5.

Part Five: Tricks of the Trade

I’m not sure about the other versions since details aren’t listed on the other websites. I’m going to go ahead and assume that even though they are named differently, the two segments are still the same thing. But, this is Summit Entertainment we are talking about here, so you never know. If someone who has the Wal Mart DVD and the Target DVD is willing to write in and confirm or deny, I will post the info here.

DVD’s from Amazon and Barnes and Noble have just the basic special features only.

DIFFERENT SPECIAL FEATURES:

Here is where things get confusing. This is a difficult post to do because there are so many versions floating around out there and not everything has made it to youtube yet, so I will post videos of what I can and then post the rest ASAP.

Deleted Scenes (Watch all those HERE) They are the only retailer offering a DVD with the deleted scenes at this time.

But then their product description is really vague. I’m not sure if it’s different than other versions of not.

INTERVIEWS with cast members Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, the Cullen Family, the Wolf Pack, the Volturi and Director Chris Weitz; unrivaled RED-CARPET FOOTAGE from the movie premiere; front row seats to The Twilight Saga: New Moon WEBCAST.

I have no idea what any of that is, especially the webcast. Never heard of it. If anyone who owns this version wants to clarify, I would be relieved.
