New Moon: My First Thoughts (No Spoilers Yet!)

It’s 3am here, and I just got back from seeing the most anticiapted movie (by me and a lot of other people) of the year! I’m so buzzed, so here’s a quick rundown of what I thought before I type out my full of spoilers review tomorrow.

Chris Weitz deserves a medal. He did an excellent job on this movie, and as a die hard fan, and as someone who re-read most of New Moon the book while waiting in line, the movie was SO SPOT ON! If you are a stickler for lines taken directly from the book, you will be very pleased.

I don’t know who the fault goes to for the atrocious script from Twilight, Cougar Cathy or Melissa Rosenburg, but you will find no trace of a character dropped out of no where like Buttcrack Santa here. New Moon will be a much less confusing movie for someone who hasn’t read the book, I think, as long as they have the back story.

Like most fans, I went into this first showing with a list of things I needed to see make the transition from book to movie for me to be satisfied. In this post, I won’t tell you what exactly was on my list, but I will say that 95% of what I needed was taken care of.

I’m sleepy, and that’s all I can say right now until my much more detailed post about this coming soon.

    Our theatre showed a Twilight/New Moon double feature, and it was awesome! We didn’t have to wait in line and everyone behaved nicely. It was a great group experience. Oh, and I loved the end of New Moon. I can hardly wait to see it again!

    Yes, the double feature was nice, right? The no waiting in line and instead sitting in a seat was nice! I’m glad you had a good time.

    Got to my theater it 10:30, there were already hundreds in line..I was freaking out! But line moved quick and I was in my seat at like 11:05. I’m still on a New Moon high. And you are correct, Chris Weitz deserves many awards! I absolutely loved everything about this movie!
