Guess Who I Was For Halloween?

To get to the story of my really thrown-together-at-the-last-possible-second Halloween costume this year, I suppose I need to start at the beginning.
A good friend of mine over the internets known as Jelly (She writes an pee-in-your-pants-funny blog that I wish she could update more often here) sent me a message not too long ago to let me know she was going to send me something. I was very surpised and grateful, and practically dying of curoistity over what it could be.
During the process of moving from the old apartment last week, I took a break to go check the mail. Her package to me had finally arrived and when I ripped it open standing right there at the mailbox, this is what was inside.

She had knitted me a pair of mittens just like the ones Bella is wearing in the Twilight movie when Edward saves her from the van, and when they are skipping school so he can tell her his life story! I squealed and did a happy dance (yes, there were witnesses) and immediately put them on and wore them for awhile, even though it was about 70 degrees and 100% humidity here.
Fast forward to yesterday, October 31st. Jeremy and I spent most of the day still moving stuff from the old apartment to the new (how did we ever fit so much junk in that closest sized apartment?) and really gave no thought as to what we were going to that night to celebrate.
When we were taking a break and I was gathering a bunch of my old winter coats to be hung up, it hit me like Tyler’s van would have hit Bella.
I had the headband, the brown hair, a similar jacket, some ipod earbuds, and Full Size Edward to compliment my costume, and now some kick ass mittens!
The end result:

I was an awesome Bella! I took heed of all the suggestions I got via my friend Pilar and the wonderful Twi-whores on facebook, who reminded me that to really be Kristen’s version of Bella, I had to bite my lip alot, blink constantly, and breathe heavily in the middle of talking. With my costume on, Jeremy and I were ready to go!
We headed to my mom’s house to give out candy, and yes, I did bring my Full Size Edward with me, and he stood brooding beside me while I greeted all the trick-or-treaters.
Understandably, about 90% of the people who dropped by for candy had no idea who I was supposed to be, and why I had a giant cardboard cut out beside me. One kid dressed as a ninja said, “Hey…that looks like that one guy….uh, what’s his name…that one guy from the movie….Edwin!”
But it was fun to see the reactions of people who actually got it. A girl dressed (rather inappropriately, in my opinion) as a school girl actually swooned on my front yard in front of her boyfriend. He had to almost forcibly take her away so they could keep trick-or-treating. Several people actually waved shyly to him, and many kids told me, “Wow! I thought that was a real person!”
Yeah, I so totally wish.
My favorite reaction of the night was a girl who was about 11, dressed as a fairy who told me she was reading the books as I dropped the candy in her bag and everyone in her group started to make fun of her. She waited until they had all gotten their treats and they had moved on ahead before she stopped, turned to me and whispered, “I can’t wait till New Moon!” It was freaking adorable, and it made my night.
So did anyone else do anything Twi related for Halloween? Did you see any other Twi characters out there? Also, does anyone else have any merch like the mittens that you made yourself or recieved from a crafty friend (or Etsy)?
Also, words can’t even explain how much I’m in love with these mittens. I can’t wait for the weather to get cold so I can wear them to my heart’s content. Thanks a bizillion times Jelly!

I had seen that! I was so happy to get these, since the originals from the movie are made overseas, and they are 300 bucks with a 3 year wait! I hope you get some, and I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I will surely remember that, although Barbie mittens sound fun. I would die if anything happened to these though, so I will be super careful!
