Mini Edward in Colorado: Day 1: Fun In A Castle In The Woods

This was technically our second day in the state, but this was the first day we actually had the day to do stuff actually in Colorado, so…close enough.
We woke up in Trinidad and planned to meander our way around until we got to Colorado Springs that night. We had a good breakfast:

Edward enjoyed some moose (or elk? I don’t know),

then we were ready to hit the road. (look at our “Team Edward” and “Twilight” stickers on the back window. Yeah, we represent.)
After driving awhile, we happened on some places to stop.

We found a place called Lake Isabel (which reminded me and Edward of “Bella), and it was beautiful.

Edward also found some places to goof off.

Yeah, this is looking a lot like home to Mini Edward.

“As if you could fight me off! I’m designed to kill!”
After Mini E’s little display of vamp strength, we headed down the road to Bishop Castle, a big structure that one man has been making alone and by hand since the 60′s. You have probably already guessed he’s a total looney toon.

Yeah, it goes up higher than that and no I did not go up there. I’m deathly scared of heights. And yes, that’s an awesome dragon coming out the window.

Yeah, that’s high. The man who builds on this was there the day we went and was still building, ranting about the government. I assume they’ve given him some trouble (probably because this thing isn’t really fit to be walked and climbed over) because he had signs like this all over the place:

Yeeaahhh…I took lots of videos here while we went inside and watched the guy build and talk. As soon as I figure out how to get them on this site, I will update this post with them because really, it was pure crazytown.

Mini Edward really had a good time there though. It was a really beautiful area and we can’t wait to go back in a few years and see how much more the guy has built.
That was it for that day. There is more from Mini Edward coming soon, including him at the top of Pike’s Peak and getting lost with me and Jeremy (yes, we really got lost) outside of Lake City. Stay tuned!

Looks like Edward had a good time. What were his thoughts on the “crazytown castle?” I wouldn’t have been shocked if the white coats were waiting for him when y’all arrived!

I think the state govt hangs out there a lot. The he had about 20 signs (no lie) on how they keep trying to take away his “rights” and how corrupt they are. He was ranting and raving when we got there, talking about the bailouts. I’m going to try to upload the video because you can hear me whisper, “He’s crazy!”
